2021 was a great year, and we have exciting new projects and innovations planned for 2022. Join us as we continue to revolutionize the voluntary pet benefits market.
New year, new great benefits
In 2021 we launched arguably our most exciting product to date: Wishbone Pet Health Insurance: The only comprehensive pet health insurance plan designed exclusively for the employee benefits space.
We poured all of our experience, innovation, and of course, our hearts into Wishbone, presenting a plan that meets the needs of all our end users – HR, employees, and pets alike.
Following the Wishbone launch in 2021, we averaged over 325 Wishbone policies a month and we couldn’t be more excited for all the pet parents who have found peace of mind with Wishbone!
By upgrading our pet insurance offering with the debut of Wishbone coupled with the same robust coverage of our Total Pet Plan, our groups’ employees can enroll in a complete pet care coverage they couldn’t get from anywhere else!
In 2021, Pet Benefits Solution was listed on the prestigious Inc. 5000 for the third year in a row! The Inc. 5000 is a list of America’s fastest-growing private companies.
We simplified offering pet benefits
HR shouldn’t have to reinvent the wheel during an already stressful OE. In 2021 we rolled out HR-friendly innovations for all our products
Simpler group enrollment and auto-renew options
We know that managing Open Enrollment files can be challenging, so we created more flexibility with file processing. Our new no-file and hybrid options, along with increased automation in our back end provide faster and more convenient enrollment processing for our groups.
Platform setup guides
To make Total Pet Plan implementation nearly turn-key, we have formal integrations with almost 20 HCM platforms. Companies using other platforms use our guides depicting exactly how to set up an enrollment screen complete with sample text.
All paired with our foundation for a successful launch:

- Easy-to-manage benefits in our unique administrator portal
- Payroll integrations for simpler implementation
- Voluntary benefits trained dedicated account manager for day-to-day questions

We served more pets than ever before
Together with hard-working pet parents, we ensure the quality of care our pets receive is never sacrificed. With the help of our brokers, groups, and other partners, we made pet benefits accessible to hundreds of thousands more employees in 2021 and the satisfaction speaks for itself…
- 80% more pets are enrolled in Total Pet Plan
- 73% more pets are covered by pet insurance
- 44% of pet insurance policies included routine care add-ons
- 18,297 pets were reunited with ThePetTag
Meet Gobi
“Gobi is a 37lb Beagle mix and notorious troublemaker – knowing this, I enrolled her in both Wishbone and Total Pet Plan” said Tori, Gobi’s mom.
It was only 2 months before Gobi’s first claim with Wishbone. She was diagnosed and treated for a Urinary Tract Infection. Gobi met her annual deductible on the first claim!
Cue Gobi’s bad behavior!
“3 months later Gobi got into the garbage and ate tons of aluminum foil. Needing an x-ray, ultrasound, and other diagnostic tests, Gobi could have cost us quite a bit of money.” Gobi thankfully didn’t need surgery, but Tori and her husband knew they were protected with Wishbone and could run all the diagnostics to be sure she was going to be ok without worrying about the cost.

We revamped the member experience
We are often driven by our love for pets, but we love pet parents too! For them, we make adding pet benefits a no-brainer.
We updated our custom group landing pages and crafted our Wishbone enrollment flow with employees in mind. Our enrollment process has received positive feedback giving employees a best-in-class user experience.
